Activating your license key
Where to find your license key, how to activate it, and what to do if you lose it or Typeahead asks for it again.

Typeahead uses a license key instead of an account. Whichever plan you choose, you get a key by email, and it turns Typeahead on.
Where to find your key
Your key is in the email we send after checkout, from hello@typeahead.ai. It looks like this: TA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. The page you see after checkout shows it too, once it's ready.
Activate it
- Open Typeahead. The Activate Typeahead window appears.
- Paste your key and click Activate.
Activation needs an internet connection. It sends our license server your key, an ID for your Mac and, when it's available, its model name (like "MacBook Air"), so the license knows which Macs it's on. Typeahead processes writing locally; it goes online only to check your license, look for updates and download your AI model, and none of those requests include anything you write.
After activation
Your key is saved in the macOS Keychain, so app updates and reinstalls won't ask for it again. Settings › License shows your plan and your key, with a button to copy it.
Typeahead works offline after setup. A plan checks your license when you're back online.
- Lifetime keeps working offline after setup. If it hasn't been online for 30 days, it asks you to reconnect, and keeps working while it waits.
- A monthly or yearly plan works offline after setup until 7 days after its paid-through date. It also checks your license when your Mac wakes and in the week after each paid period ends.
How many Macs
- Lifetime covers all your Macs. Use the same key on each.
- Yearly and Monthly cover up to 3 Macs. To add another, remove one in Settings › License first. See Moving to a new Mac.
Lost your key?
Search your inbox for the email from hello@typeahead.ai. If Typeahead is activated on one of your Macs, Settings › License shows the key there too. Still can't find it? Email hello@typeahead.ai with the address you used to buy, and we'll send it again.
Asked for your key again?
If Typeahead asks for your key after a reinstall or a move to a new Mac, the Keychain entry didn't come across. Enter the key from your email and it's saved again.
If Typeahead says this Mac was removed, click Activate This Mac Again. If it says your license is no longer valid, email hello@typeahead.ai and we'll sort it out.
