How to install Typeahead

What your Mac needs, how to download and install Typeahead, and where your license key comes in.

Apple silicon and Intel Macs are supported, and installation takes you from the download to an activated app with its local model.

Install Typeahead

  1. Go to the Typeahead download page and download the Mac app.
  2. Open the Typeahead .dmg file in Downloads, then drag Typeahead into Applications.
  3. Open Typeahead from Applications. If the app opens from another location and shows the Move to Applications prompt, click Move to Applications.
  4. Paste your license key, then click Activate.
  5. When prompted, allow Accessibility access.
  6. Follow the guided setup and download the suggested writing model. The AI model is about a 4 GB download.

After the model is downloaded, Typeahead generates every suggestion entirely on your Mac.

Once setup is complete, Typeahead is ready in Mail, Slack, Pages and browser fields. We notice it most in that small pause after the sentence has started and the next few words are slow.
