Yes. Typeahead is AI autocomplete for Mac, and it works in the apps doctors write in between patients: letters in Word, admin email in Outlook or Mail, quick answers in Microsoft Teams and text fields in your browser. It suggests the rest of each sentence in grey, generated on your Mac, and nothing goes in until you press Tab.
Typeahead completes your sentences on your Mac and never sends your writing to a server, so no one at Typeahead sees a patient's details. The only network activity is license activation, a license check each time the app starts, optional update checks, and the one-time download of your AI model. Whether that meets your HIPAA and institutional obligations is a question for your compliance team, so check with them first.
No. Typeahead works with text, not audio. Through the macOS Accessibility API, it reads the text near your cursor and the visible text of the window you're typing in. It doesn't listen, record, or transcribe.
